Got into Pocahantas State Park in Richmond Virginia on Saturday, after a stop to look at folding bikes at a Camping World. Crazy tight maneuvering, and little or no parking! Some poor guy tried to turn around on a dirt road, and was stuck in the mud up to his back frame! Had to be towed out. What a way to ruin a day! He was there to get a windshield fixed, that was broken when someone backed into them! Insult to injury!
So hot, we dripped buckets, just being outside! Our stupid mud flap was bent somehow, and I ended up sitting on the ground with my lower body under the coach, trying to unbend it!
Pocahantas State Park is lovely, and we decided to stay three nights, instead of two. Sunday, we toured Richmond, seeing the Hollywood Cemetery first, where two Presidents are buried, as well as many Civil War soldiers, including some from Gettysburg. There were some nice angels, which I find myself looking for because Chris is always looking for them to photograph! I took a few photos to send to send to him, and said he should definitely check this cemetary out!

This statue of a dog adorned a child's grave, as she had been so fond of her pet. Very sweet to see it, and all the little toys that have been left.
Then on to the Poe Museum, which was less than I had expected, but interesting, and had a very nice garden. I have always been fascinated by his poem The Raven, and the visit resulting in looking up and reading the entire thing aloud, much to Clem's dismay!

In looking for lunch, we stopped at Southern Kitchen up the road, which was serving brunch, and I had the most amazing Southern Toast, which was bread pudding turned French Toast, with strawberries and whipped cream. Yum!! Clem had Chicken and Waffles, no surprise, and a mimosa. Lovely leisurely meal.

Then on to our final stop Maymont, to tour the Gilded age mansion and extensive grounds. We are both tired, and the walk down to the Japanese garden was more than either of us wanted to undertake. A surprise for me! We drove to Tredegar Iron Works, but nearly closing time, so didn’t go in.
Amazing, comfortable weather, after the awful heat, and we are loving it! Windows open on the coach tonight, and it is actually getting chilly!!

Lunch hunt was unrewarded, and we ended up with marginal pizza at a place out of the way! Then home for a much needed nap before a shower. Explored the park a bit, and found the aquatic center, loaded with kids, and the stream. CCC museum closed, and we will see if we can visit again tomorrow if it is open. We will head out tomorrow and start making our way to Boston.
